Scarlett Susan Doyle

Scarlett Susan Doyle, author of There’s No Such Thing As Closure, was born on May 19, 1945 in the heart of Minnesota. Her father, Keith Ewy, was serving in the Pacific at that time. By the time he was discharged from the navy, his daughter was already 6 months old. While he was in the service, Scarlett and her mother, Nellie, lived with Scarlett’s maternal grandmother and grandfather in Saint Paul. Scarlett and her grandmother, Mary Deloia, remained close for decades. When Scarlett was six years old, her sister, Pamela, was born.

Scarlett graduated from Mounds View High School in New Brighton, MN and went to the University of Minnesota where she majored in zoology, with a minor in chemistry. It was in chemistry class that she met her future husband, Gerry, who was in the doctoral program of the chemistry department. After graduation, she worked as an antibiotic researcher for Merck Pharmaceuticals in New Jersey. They have two children, Erick Keith and Janelle Doyle Oxnam. Erick owns the Readington River Buffalo Company and Janelle is an emergency room physician in Tucson, Arizona.

Scarlett continued her education by attending Rutgers University where she obtained a Masters Degree in City and Regional Planning. She became a licensed professional planner in the state and a partner in a civil engineering and planning firm in New Jersey. In her work as a city planner, Scarlett has developed city master plans and ordinances. She has authored literally thousands of analytical reports which required background research for the evaluation of construction projects. It is through this experience, derived from decades of research, that formed the plausible underpinnings of this riveting novel.
