Events
October Hayrides!
The time is upon us. We have endured a hot, dry July. We survived the wettest August on record, and September did little to dry us up. But we made it into October. That means HAYRIDE SEASON!
We will be running our wagons all weekends in October from 10-4. It will take you and your family around our pastures to get a good look at the herds. We will make a stop at the pumpkin patch where you can pick from our grand assortment. Then, you will return to the farm where our hospitality station will fill you with snacks and refreshments.
Rides are $2 for all riders OVER 2 years old. Pumpkins are 60 cents per pound.

ROUND UP
November 5th* marks the most exciting single day of the year. We will be running our herd of 140 bison through our handling system and give them their medications. Calves are weighed, tagged, and weaned. The whole process will be sure to give you a grasp of how intense these bison really are. Volunteer positions are limited and sternly restricted, but the experience is not lost on the spectators.

*It's also Erick's 40th Birthday

Farm News

Growth:
We are thrilled to say that we have been growing our business to the community with great success. From the time I moved back to NJ in 1998, we have changed the direction of RRBC from a wholesale based operation to a retail store. We are servicing a smaller geographic area, but have not lost any income in the process. This tells us two very important things:

1. We are doing the right things in the way we raise our stock. The meat is of high enough quality to bring repeat business to our farm. This makes my life easier in that I can spend my efforts in doing what is best for the herd, instead of driving all over NJ making deliveries.
2. You, as members of our community, are doing your part in helping to sustain the local agriculture. Locally grown food has become a very powerful force in the marketplace for many reasons. The ability to know the source of your food insulates you from the problems that face the industrial food complex. You and your neighbors benefit when the money that you spend travels less.
By looking into these two factors, we have decided to adjust our business to further benefit you.

First, we will only sell meat raised right here on the farm. I have had bad experiences with the quality of outsourced merchandise, and do not want to risk your satisfaction to make pennies on the dollar. Some small exceptions will be made to supplement our burger supply, but we will keep that to a minimum.

Also, we have abridged our store hours for the winter to help build up our inventory once the busy season arrives. We have been running into problems keeping our selection in stock over the summer. We either had to harvest early or purchase other meat. Neither of these options are sustainable for the business we wish to run. So we are tightening our belt for the time being in order to better serve you when the grill gets fired up.

And we are suspending our shipping program. This is mainly because interest has been slow enough for us to reconsider its value. The process would have worked better if we were more aggressive in selling online, but the effort to do so would have led to a sacrifice in time, energy, and money spent in the processing of the orders.
